Included in our tour of the Cu Chi Tunnel is a visit to a souvenir store. The Nam Quoc Handicrafts store by handicapped was founded in 1976 and is a member of the Vietnam Association for Invalids and Disabilities Enterprises.
Apparently all of the merchandises on display were made by handicapped. Before entering the huge warehouse cum shop you will be able to see and observe the workers how they make their products from scratch, some using indigenous materials like egg shells..
Inside the shop are handicrafts varying in style, design and sizes. Their product ranges from house ware to head pieces, jewelries, slippers, display items and many more.
Some would say that a tour that includes a visit to this kind of store is a form of scam or money making device of tour operators but for me I made a great deal, I bought a souvenir and helped(I hope) those handicapped by patronizing their handicrafts
