ONE FINE DAY WITH THE ELEPHANTS - MAE TAENG ELEPHANT PARK

The Mae Taeng Elephant park is situated in Maetaman Valley. It is home to almost 40 elephants.

The elephant park is 50 kilometers north of Chang Mai thus our call time of 6:45am. It was a red-sun day!
There were already 2 buses when we arrived at the park but our tour guide was very quick , we were the first batch  to ride the elephants ahead of the other tourists.
we were the very first to ride on that day

The ride was, well bumpy, fun and exhilarating. It made me nervous too! I was thinking that we might fall because you can really feel that your swaying every time the elephant took a step especially when we were climbing up a hill in the forest and down to the Maetang river.

the elephant is trying to shower us! Bad elephant!
As we were going deep into the forest we saw stores selling fruits. At first  I thought they were selling it for the tourists but in fact its for the elephants and the tourists would pay.

The sceneries along the way ranges from mountains , falls , river, the resort cottages and we also passed by a cow farm.

After our ride we watched the elephants took a bath at the river.

that's the park official photographer, he snaps photos to every visitors riding the elephant . Upon return they will give you your framed photo for 200 Thai baht

Lastly the highlight of this tour was the elephant show. You would not really  believe  what the elephants can do unless  you can see it with your two eyes. These elephants are really amazing! They can dance, play football and paint aside from the usual animal tricks we got to see in the carnivals. The paintings are for sale for 600Thai baht.
