BACLAYON CHURCH

The Church of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Baclayon is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines.

Construction commenced in 1717 with some 200 forced laborers. The church was constructed from coral stones, which they took from the sea, cut into square blocks and piled on to each other. They used bamboo to move and lift the stones in position, and used the white of a million eggs to cement them together.

The current building was completed in 1727.

Like all religious places, decent clothes must be observed when entering .

or else wear shawl provided by  the church

One reason I'd really wanted to see this church is the portrait of Padre Pio on the church's outside wall.

Every time I visited a church, I would always make it a point to  offer a candle. Here you have choices on what color to offer depending on your petition.
